Delighted to see this initiative underway. Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, with the support of our Office of Aging and Seniors, the Caregivers Out of Isolation project is undertaking to prepare a ‘Pathway Guide for Caregivers’ that provides information to informal caregivers on a variety of general topics – a list of actions for a ‘pathway’ for new caregivers, ideas for self-care, communication strategies, ideas for engaging support from other family and friends, info on legal issues etc. The guide will be in binder format so that local and regional information can be added by individual caregivers. Please keep us in the loop as your work unfolds…

This is an excellent initiative. I look forward to reading comments as well as other information that comes out of this.
We have a practice in assistive devices – foot care, orthotics, prosthetics & hearing and are in contact with a lot of senior related issues. The worse of this is when a senior is in need of such devices in Ontario and cannot afford it, we do not have an adequate funding assistance program for their well-being. This leads to other issues as they cannot be more independent through the use of the specialized assistive device! If anybody has a source on how to assist these seniors on their funding of devices beyond the ADP, please help us help them. Sincerely, Minaz.

Great to have access to such great information. Very interested in your projects and goal realted to caregiver burden assessment. The Alzheimer Society Peel is in the process of hiring an OT to conduct such assessments with our many struggling caregivers. We are currently researching all of the caregiver stress/burden assessments that currently exist and would love to talk to anyone from your group who is working on this goal.
